Al-Huda Parent & Student Booklet

Policies:

1.  Admission

  • For Level 1:  Must be 5 years by September
  • Anyone above the age of 18 is considered an adult and therefore will be ineligible for classes
  • New students will be tested and put into appropriate levels based on Arabic knowledge
  • Returning students will be promoted or retained based on completion of Exit Goals for the previous year and re-evaluated the first week of school

2.  Tuition

  • Student tuition is $175 for the first child and $100 for each additional child for the entire school year and may be paid in the following ways:
    • In full on registration day
    • In two installments
    • In monthly installments over a period of 10 months
    • If you are a parent that is unable to afford the full tuition costs, please come into the office during school hours to discuss payment arrangements

3.  Attendance

  • Attendance is very essential in order for progress to be 
    achieved.  After four absences a meeting of the teacher and parent will be required to discuss the situation.
  • A student is considered tardy 5 minutes after the start of school.  3 tardies will result in a loss of recess time
  • If a parent is more than 10 minutes late to pick-up their child, they will be required to stay the following school day while their child is in class

4.  Discipline

  • 1.  Warning by teacher
  • 2.  Send to the principal
  • 3.  Phone call to parent
  • 4.  Conference with parent

5.  Safety

  • If any child chooses to physically assault another child, they will be expelled from Al-Huda Islamic School

6.  School cancellation

  • Announcement will be made on WOOD TV 8 and the website www.grmasjid.com

7.  Dress code

  • All students are required to wear proper Islamic clothing.  Clothing must be loose fitting.  
    •          Boys & Girls: Long trousers and loose shirts (or traditional ethnic clothing) are required.
    •          Girls:  Hijabs

8.  Homework

  • Students will have homework they will need to complete

9.  New Curriculum:

  • This year we are pleased to announce a new curriculum being implemented to help in the success of your child’s Islamic education.  Each child is responsible for his/her materials.  If books are lost, defiled, or damaged, they will have to be paid for.

10.  Student of the Month:

  • Each teacher will choose 1 student of the month from their class based on academic performance, mannerisms, and behavior
  • The student will receive special recognition and an award/gift from the administration

11.  Quran Competition:

  • Each teacher will recognize students in their class who  successfully memorize the Surah of the month
  • The student will receive special recognition and an award/gift from the administration

12.  Expectations:

  • Come on time and prepared for class
  • Be respectful of yourself and others
  • Follow directions and stay on task
  • Give 100% effort

 

13.  Time Change:

  • 11am-2pm               October 3 –October 31
  • 10am-1pm               November 1 – March 13
  • 11am-2pm               March 14 – May 23

14.  Holiday Breaks: (No School)

  • Eid Al-Udha Break               November 28 – 29
  • Winter Break                       December 26 – 27 & January 2 – 3     
  • Spring Break                       April 3 – 4 & April 10 – 11
  • Memorial Weekend              May 29 - 30

15.  Parent-Teacher Conferences:

  • February 6-7

16.  Exam Dates:

  • First Semester         December 19
  • Second Semester     March 13
  • Third Semester       June 6
